Student Mail - Your Columbus State E-mail Account

All students have a Student Mail account. Grades, midterm reports, fee payment information and campus notifications are all sent to your Student Mail account. Any e-mails sent through Blackboard are also sent to your Student Mail account.

What's my E-mail Address?

Your email address will be yourusername@student.cscc.edu. For example, the student that has the username of jstudent3, would have the email address of jstudent3@student.cscc.edu.

How do I access my Student Mail account?

To access your Student Mail account, go to http://student.cscc.edu. Your username and password that you discovered at http://password.cscc.edu is used to access your account.

I am not receiving any e-mails through Blackboard.

E-mails sent through Blackboard are sent to your primary Columbus State e-mail address. For students, this is your Student Mail account. For faculty and staff (including faculty and staff who are also students), this is your Novell Groupwise account.

Students can access Student Mail at http://student.cscc.edu.

Faculty and staff can access Groupwise at http://mail.cscc.edu.

Can I change my e-mail address in Blackboard?

No. Students are placed in Blackboard with their Student Mail account. Faculty and staff (even those who are also students) are placed in Blackboard with their Groupwise accounts. Those e-mail addresses cannot be changed.

My name has changed. How do I change my username?

Complete the Change of Information form and submit it to Records and Registration. Be sure to check Yes under Would you like your student e-mail address changed to reflect the name change?.

Please note: A name change requires a photo identification and legal documentation supporting the change.

How do I send an e-mail attachment through Blackboard?

  1. Go to your course
  2. Click on the Communication button Communication
  3. Click on Send E-mail
  4. Select the appropriate recipient list.
    Please note: all options may not be available as the courses are customized by the instructor.
    • All Users: the email will be send to all course members
    • All Groups: the email will be sent to all course groups
    • All Teaching Assistants: the email will be sent to all teaching assistants
    • All Instructors: the email will be sent to all instructors
    • All Observers: the email will be sent to all course observers
    • Select Users: the email will only be sent to those course members selected from a list
    • Select Groups: the email will only be sent to those course groups selected from a list
    • Select Observers: the email will only be sent to those course observers selected from a list
  5. Input a Subject and Message
  6. Under Add Attachments, click on the Add button Add Attachment
  7. Click on the Browse button
  8. Select the file you wish to attach
  9. Click on the Submit button Submit
  10. The file has now been added to the email.  To attach a second file, repeat Step 7 through Step 10. To remove a file from a pending e-mail, click on the appropriate Remove button
  11. Review your email to make sure everything is accurate.
  12. Click on the Submit button Submit
  13. An e-mail receipt will display. You may print the receipt for your records.
  14. Click on the OK button OKto exit

Please Note: a copy of your e-mail will automatically be sent to your Student Mail e-mail account.  To access your Student Mail account, go to http://student.cscc.edu or click on the My Email tab.

If I use Blackboard to e-mail my students (using E-mail, Announcements or Early Warning System), will the students see everyone's names and email address?

No. Blackboard will blind-copy all recipients of an e-mail sent using either E-mail, Announcements or Early Warning System. The student will only see your name as the sender and their name as a recipient. The e-mail sender can receive a special e-mail containing the names of each recipient by checking the Return Receipt option in E-mail.
